MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS BOOK
I really had a hard time finding a book related to Tanzania in my library. As I knew close to nothing about that country, apart from its location, I thought it was a good idea to try this non-fiction one.
I certainly learned a lot about Tanzania geography, its surrounding neighbors; its history, including its rather recent political evolutions; its culture; its numerous languages.
The problem is the whole thing was done in a very very very repetitive and extremely boring way. Plus, there were tons of typos. It sounded more like a first draft, which still needed a lot of editing before serious publication.
This is really too bad. It does not cost more to have a friend reread one’s text before going to the printer, really. It gives unnecessarily a bad image of the beautiful people it tried to portray.
WHAT IS IT ABOUT
This is a general study of Tanzania, the land and its people and history, and a look at contemporary life in the largest country in East Africa and one of the largest on the continent. It is also a general survey of the country’s natural resources, crops and minerals, and economic potential. The book also includes some details on the East African Community and the proposed East Africa federation of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania which is supposed to be formed in 2013.
