It’s really hard to believe, but indeed today is my 10th blogiversary!
I have been book blogging here for 10 years, after a few posts on a previous site.
It’s been a wonderful experience, thanks to you, all my readers, thanks to your reading suggestions, your own reading challenges and activities, and your comments.
Along these years, I have experienced great moments, especially reading books from over 50 different countries; or participating in Book Expo in America when it took place in Chicago. The ArmchairBea was also great, too bad it no longer exists.
Thank you so much for being here and for reading these pages!
I have been organizing some games to reward you.
At the end of this post, I will reveal 2 winners.
But first of all, based on suggestions you gave me, here are a few numbers and stats.
As of today, Words And Peace has:
- 2,228 posts
- 822 book reviews
- over 20,000 comments
- over 5,360 followers
- over 203,900 hits
Here is a series of TOP TEN:
= Interesting that Classics come first!
= Book reviews are not the type of posts generating most views!
= And not 1 review among the top 10 commented! Taking part in blog events does bring a lot of comments (especially The Sunday Post, and other memes or challenges).
Thanks to my top commenters! :
And to my top referrers:
= alas several of these actually no longer exist!
And now a nice chart:
NB: the total is in dark purple (from 61 books in 2010 to 118 in 2019)
Only 4 years have under 100 books.
The 2 other colors don’t add books, but show the proportion between read/listened to
(from 13 audiobooks in 2010 to 28 in 2019)
Now is he time to reveal my top 10 favorite books. It was really hard to pick one from each yearly recap.
Here they are, as presented in Game 1:
- 2010: The Elegance of the Hedgehog
- 2011: The Greater Journey
- 2012: The Black Count
- 2013: The Consolations of the Forest
- 2014: The Innovators
- 2015: The Ravens
- 2016: The Complete Review Guide to Contemporary World Fiction
- 2017: The World Between Two Covers
- 2018: The Blue
- 2019: Supernova Era
Congratulations to the players who identified the 10 covers!
Looks like Game 2 was more challenging.
I asked you to find out what these 8 authors have in common.
I specified that the answer was quirky, and I gave you a clue:
looking at my recap by Authors should help you.
So next to each author, I added one of the titles of these authors:
- Thad Carhart The Piano Shop on the Left Bank: Discovering a Forgotten Passion in a Paris Atelier
- Lan Samantha Chang All is Forgotten, Nothing is Lost
- Gay Hendricks The First Rule Of Ten
- Anthony Horowitz The Sentence is Death
- Hiromi Kawakami The Ten Loves of Nishino
- Patrick Modiano Suspended Sentences
- Kate Morton The Forgotten Garden
- Wendy Walker All Is Not Forgotten
Now, do you see it?
If not, here is the answer:
- Thad Carhart The Piano Shop on the Left Bank: Discovering a Forgotten Passion in a Paris Atelier
- Lan Samantha Chang All is Forgotten, Nothing is Lost
- Gay Hendricks The First Rule Of Ten
- Anthony Horowitz The Sentence is Death
- Hiromi Kawakami The Ten Loves of Nishino
- Patrick Modiano Suspended Sentences
- Kate Morton The Forgotten Garden
- Wendy Walker All Is Not Forgotten
So each of these authors have a title containing the letters T E N.
Like my TENth blogiversary 😉
