Top Ten
New Authors I discovered in 2022
TTT for January 24
#TopTenTuesday
📚 📚 📚
In 2022, I read books by a total of 115 different authors.
51% of these were new to me authors, that is, 59.
So that would seem really hard to pick 10 of them that I really enjoyed.
Fortunately, when I did my 2022 recaps, I already highlighted 16 of them,
so that was rather easy to go from 16 to 10.
And I skipped two from whom I have already read another book.
As you can see, most (except two) are classical authors.
I have the feeling some of you have not heard about a good bunch of them,
so maybe that will encourage you to revisit some exciting past authors.
Have YOU read
or are YOU planning to read any of these?
Please leave the link to your own post,
so I can visit.
The Bride Wore Black sounds interesting.

What a great list of new to you authors! Some great crime fiction authors and of course, my favorite is Rex Stout.
I hope to do my list next week when there is a “freebie”, I just could not get it together this week.

Ah great list! Paul Gallico is one I definitely want to read, starting with The Snow Goose and Jennie.

The Snow Goose is so so good, I was quite impressed

That is a lot of new authors, congratulations!! I love it. I also had a hard time narrowing it down to ten 🙂

Actually, I try to focus on authors I have already read! But actually I think 51% is a good balance

Some impressive statistics. The only one I’ve read is the Josephine Tey, quite an unusual book. Did you already know much about the historical period ?
LikeLike
I did a bit, but this was fun revisiting it with this book. I really appreciated the idea of exmining a past event with contemporary investigation methods

I spent a lot of time in this historical period when I was in school/college but I still learned some new things from this book

Josephine Tey is a favourite – shame she didn’t live as long as Agatha Christie!
I like Rex Stout but I’ve only ever found one of his books second hand over here (The Golden Spiders) & The Snow Goose is just exquisite. I made the mistake of reading it aloud to my teenaged kids and blubbered most of the way through it.
The Leavenworth Case sounds interesting. Will see if I can source it.

Yes, I ended up in tears also with The Snow Goose!
I find these books mostly at my public library, or as ebooks

Like you, I had just over half of the books I read were new-to-me authors! And, you’re right, I’m not familiar with most of these classic authors – Ellery Queen and Rex Stout I’ve heard of but not read. This has been an interesting week of such a variety of authors! My TBR has certainly grown!

Interesting new acquaintances. I also discover Woolrich this year. My most exciting new author is Maja Lunde, a Norwegian author. Her climate series is amazing. I read the first three books, and am awaiting the fourth.

Fun that we discovered him the same year! I think I have read some of your reviews on Lunde, I need to check again, thanks

I’ve read and enjoyed Tey, Stout and Gallico before but different books to the ones you mention. Looking forward to exploring more of them too.

I think I’ve heard of Paul Gallico and The Bride Wore Black but I haven’t read either of them, so thanks for the introduction.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
