I published 28 posts, 7 of these were reviews.
Of these books, here is the one that received most views:

A very solid historical novel for sure.
Reading the whole trilogy was a great experience:
Wolf Hall, Bring Up the Bodies, and The Mirror and the Light.
Another excellent book I read that month:
This was my discovery of Keigo Higashino.
I have read 2 more by him since, and 3 are no my TBR.

The Mantel trilogy? For sure. But Higashino? I know nothing about him. But if you say he’s ‘excellent’ …

OMG yes, one of the major current Japanese authors. He’s won several important mystery awards in Japan

Thanks. But I’m not an e-book fan. I’m an old-fashioned page-turner!

I think I only read Wolf Hall from that series. A good book, but the writing was very dense!

This is true, very serious historical novels though, a good change from usual fluffy things

Is it really ten years since we were reading the first of the Cromwell books by Mantel? This was such a fabulous experience. One day I shall go back to the beginning and re-read.
Keigo Higashino is a new name for me – he’s written a lot hasn’t he.

Keigo Higashino has published several series. I have read books from a few, and they were all good. He has won many awards

Brilliant that you “threw back” Hilary Mantel‘s Bring up the Bodies. I loved the Wolf Hall trilogy, such great writing about a tumultous time.
I have never heard of Keigo Higashino. Must explore.

It just happened a book I really enjoyed a lot in June 2012, as I am revisiting my blog in chronological order
OMG, yes, you need to try Higashino!

So do I. It’s the easiest way to decide which ones to “throw back”.
Would you suggest a certain book by Higashino?

I have reviewed 3 on this blog.
Maybe The Devotion of Suspect X is most characteristic?: https://wordsandpeace.com/2012/06/28/2012-32-review-the-devotion-of-suspect-x/

Thanks, Emma. I’ll have a look. It does look like a crime story and I’m usually not too keen on them but I still will see whether I can get it.

There’s a super smart plot. I see more as a battle of the mind than a murder story itself

Thanks, I’ll definitely bear that in mind.

Hi Emma!
I’ve never read Bring up the Bodies, in fact I’ve actually never read anything by Hillary Mantel. Please don’t ban me from your existence! I do hope to get to a few of these in time. I do know the history though, so that has to count for something.
Hope you are looking forward to the weekend!

Actually you really need to read volume 1 first. Wolf Hall, because the neat thing is how the author shows the evolution of Cromwell, through her 3 novels
