Friday Face Off: Gadgets and airships

Friday Face Off

The Friday Face-Off was originally created by Books by Proxy:
each Friday, bloggers showcase book covers on a weekly theme.
Visit Lynn’s Books (@LynnsBooks) for a list of upcoming themes.
Please visit also Tammy at Books, Bones & Buffy (@tammy_sparks)

This week, the theme is “Gadgets and airships

The gadget that came to mind right away in combination with airships is the Babel fish: a tiny yellow fish placed in Arthur’s ear so he could understand the Vogon speech. Of course you have recognized which book I’m talking about:

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

WHICH COVER IS YOUR FAVORITE? WHY?

Face off Gadget

My favorite is the Masterworks edition, I think.
This was a difficult choice, they are all so very different. I prefer this one because of the artistic use of colors.

Featuring this book gives me the desire to try it again. I DNFed it a few years ago, and can’t even remember why. I have the feeling I would enjoy it more now.

  1. Hi Emma! Oh this is a brilliant choice!!! I loved Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, but can’t think which one is my favorite cover. Perhaps the purple one with the little green alien on.

    Have a good weekend!

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever read Douglas Adams, but I feel like his humor is going to be too wacky for me. But I do love the Masterworks edition, and I also like the Heyne edition right above it. Great choice!
