The Friday Face-Off was originally created by Books by Proxy:
each Friday, bloggers showcase book covers on a weekly theme.
Visit Lynn’s Books (@LynnsBooks) for a list of upcoming themes.
Please visit also Tammy at Books, Bones & Buffy (@tammy_sparks)
thanks to whom I discovered this meme.
This week, the theme is “murder mystery in space”
I can actually only think of one book, which I really enjoyed:
Solaris, by Stanisław Lem.
And I guess whether there’s a murder or not depends on your interpretation.

WHICH COVER IS YOUR FAVORITE? WHY?
Just like last Friday, there’s a huge diversity of covers. From now on, I have decided to stop at 15 though.
Some here look weird, as if the artist had not even read the book (#11).
I think #4 doesn’t reveal much.
My favorite is #10 (Spanish edition) for the quality of the art, and the closeness to one important idea of the book.
Have you read this book?
WHICH COVER IS YOUR FAVORITE? WHY?
Next Friday: a cover that is grey
I have not read this yet! So I can’t base my choice on whether the cover works with the story, but my two favorites are #5 and #15. I didn’t participate today because I couldn’t find a book I hadn’t already used before😁

So many covers have actually a positive aspect to them, and fitting the story one way or another. Highly recommended short classic scifi

No.3 – is that a heart shaped brain? The final cover appeals to me for some strange reason – don’t ask me to explain because I have no idea why or whether for that matter it fits with the book at all. What an unusual collection of covers – and yes, sometimes, you just have to stop because some books have many, many covers.

I think your interpretation of #3 is correct, and it makes sense with the plot. The last one I see quite psychedelic, not bad either for the plot

Oh wow- lots of covers. And seems like I’ve heard that before, that sometimes cover artists didn’t always read the book- or at least it seems that way from their style of illustration.

It makes sense when you see the result, but that’s sad, I think

Not a book or an author I am familiar with. I was perplexed by the 11th one till I read your comment. I like the 13th one with the hands.

He was a big author of science fiction, from Poland. This book was made even more famous by the two movies on it.
The hands do point to some themes in the book

Yes, this is a major classic. I couldn’t think of any other title fitting here
