Year of reading 2021: Part 1 – My top 18

Year of reading 2021
Part 1
 My top 18

To follow my tradition, here is part 1 of my yearly recap.
There is a total of 3 parts:

  1. my favorites, with my usual categories, see here below
  2. my stats
  3. my fun list with titles

Last year, I wrote that 2020 was my best year of reading ever, with a total of 123 books. Well, this record totally exploded with 165 books read/listened to in 2021!
Not too sure what happened. We may find some elements of answers with my stats post on Wednesday.

The final choice here below is based on the quality of the book, on how it resonated with me and my own experience, and on how it stayed with me. Some of these books may actually have got only 4 out 5 Eiffel Towers at the time I read them.
And choosing from 163 books was not an easy exercise!

  3. 18 is a very good number! I have Lost Spells and Apothecary Diaries on my TBR from your earlier reviews. But I confess I am liking the idea of Beatryce Prophecy a whole lot more! 🙂

  4. I’ve not read any of these but I enjoyed Muriel Barbery’s last book. Will have to check out Rose since you rate it so highly. Thanks for sharing all your faves and stats, it’s always fun to see what each blogger picks.

          • The language was very atmospheric and poetic, even in translation (by Alison Anderson). Looking back at my review, I described it as “one of those rare books I can enjoy without always entirely understanding what is going on.” I was left with impressions rather than firm memories, but I do think you might enjoy it too.

  6. Congratulations on a record-breaking year!

Did I see The Little Wooden Robot here first? I can’t remember. It looks so cute! I’ve been meaning to write a post that breaks down my favorites of 2021 a bit farther but haven’t made time for it yet.
