DECEMBER 2021 WRAP-UP
Another great reading month to end the year!
In 2022, I plan to focus almost exclusively on my TBRs, and I started to do that a bit in December, with some very enjoyable titles.
Lots of things on the blog as well:
- The recap of my Hercule Poirot Project
- The recap of the Books in Translation Challenge
- I joined a new to me meme: Friday Face Off, focusing on book covers
- And for 2022, I posted my TBR for the Japanese Literature Challenge (January-March)
- And my TRB for Bout of Books (January 3-9)
And I have tried writing at least a few words after most of the books I read – definitely a trend I want to follow in 2022!
📚 Here is what I read in December:
15 books:
8 in print
= with 1,217 pages, a daily average of 39 pages/day
7 in audio
= 40H13, a daily average of 1H17
5 in literary fiction:
- Oscar et la dame rose, by Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt – reread to prepare a French student for the IB exam
- Ficciones, by Jorge Luis Borges – for The Classics Club
- Les Mystères de Paris, Tome 2, by Eugène Sue – audio for The Classics Club
- Les Mystères de Paris, Tome 3, by Eugène Sue – audio for The Classics Club
- Une Rose seule, by Muriel Barbery – audio
4 in mystery:
- L’Ombre chinoise (Inspecteur Maigret #13), by Georges Simenon – read with a French student – for The Classics Club
- Regarder le Noir, by various authors – audio
- Sauve-la, by Sylvain Forge – audio
- The Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie – video/text for The Classics Club
3 in children books:
- The Little Wooden Robot and the Log Princess, by Tom Gauld
- Watercress, by Andrea Wang
- The Beatryce Prophecy, by Kate DiCamillo
2 in historical fiction:
- Katherine’s Wish, by Linda Lappin – for review for France Book Tours
You can request this book until tonight! - The Samurai’s Garden, by Gail Tsukiyama
1 in scifi:

How was YOUR month of December?
Nicole at Feed Your Fiction Addiction
has created a Month In Review meme
where you can link your monthly recap posts
Thanks Nicole!
I like it that you hope to focus on your TBR. I’ve made up a schedule for 2022 where I focus on the books I have, too.
I forgot about the Japanese Literature Challenge. I need to think about participating in it.

Thanks Tammy, it’s thanks to you that I discovered it. I don’t understand though that people who participate (are there only the 3 of us??) don’t put their link in the comments. It’s the common practice for all memes. Am I missing something here?

Seems like a very productive month! Don’t know if I will join the Japanese Lit challenge, since Jan will be busy, but I will look forward to read all the reviews!

So, what are your 2022 plans?

Well, I don’t have any plans for my blog (I have the “let’s see what happens” approach to blogging), my busyness relates to other things in life.

That’s a nice way to approach blogging 😉

My life is just as quiet in December as any other month, lol. Maybe more fancy cooking, and baking, so more audiobook time, lol!

I’m happy you were able to tackle your TBR in December. I have decided to do the same thing in January and so far have done just that plus more. I loved, loved Watercress and have a keeper copy here.

Watercress is so good indeed! Good luck on keeping at your TBR this year. Looks like it’s the main goal for many of us
