Top Ten Tuesday:
Top Ten Books with Purple, Yellow, and/or Green Book Covers
(in honor of Mardi Gras, which is today)
TTT for February 16, 2021
#TopTenTuesday
📚📚📚
Today, the prompt is related to Mardi Gras. We don’t have Mardi Gras in my Church tradition. Our Lent always starts on a Monday (with Clean Monday – March 15 this year), and the Sunday before we usually use all our eggs and milk, etc, making blini. It’s actually called Forgiveness Sunday, as on that day, we all ask forgiveness from each other, before launching into the Lenten period.
Anyway, here is my choice for this meme.
The only recent ones with a yellow cover were in French, so I skipped them. And I chose only among books I really enjoyed a lot.

Yes, that was actually my favorite cover of 2020! Have you read books by this author? Really precious!

It’s always interesting to learn about different people’s holidays and traditions. I’m a religious person, but I don’t celebrate Lent. I love the idea of Forgiveness Sunday, though – that sounds like a fantastic tradition. Enjoy your celebrations!
Happy TTT!

It is, and it goes back to the very first centuries of the Church

I need to (finally) read Banana Yoshimoto, and thanks for the title of Ichigo Ichi, duly noted 🙂 The only one I’ve read is Lord Edgware dies but I have the Fred Vargas on my shelf ever since it was published and need to get to it asap…

OMG yes, all of Fred Vargas, this nonfiction, et ses rompols! A must

En fait, je les ai tous (les Vargas) mais je n’ai lu que L’homme aux cercles bleus, le reste viendra. Ma soeur l’adore et les relit régulièrement par plaisir.

Ta sœur a bon goût ! Tu devrais la suivre, mdr. Une très grande écriture vraiment.

I’m a huge fan of Cixin Liu’s Three Body Problem, so Supernova Era caught my eye. Hope it was a good read!
The Lodger also looks interesting, going by the cover at least — I’m off to check out the blurb.

The Lodger is like a forgotten gem for me

I checked out The Lodger — it seems there’s a Hitchcock movie too on it. Now I just simply *have* to watch that. Thanks a lot for the rec.

I’m glad you were able to find books with purple or green covers that were also great reads.
I recently read the new George Saunders book (purple) and The Disappearing Spoon (green). Breath was a nice yellow.

Thanks, The Disappearing Spoon sounds quirky and good

I’ve realised reading your post that I pay very little attention to the colour of the covers. I look at them and wonder what they tell me about the story inside but they never stay in my mind so I have no idea what purple, yellow or green covers I have.

Well, I also had to look more closely
