With lots of current trends, our Western society is little by little paying more attention to the impact of our local environment on our health and psyche. In this simple guide to Feng Shui, Feng Shui for Healing: A Step-by-Step Guide to Improving Wellness in Your Home Sanctuary, the author offers a practical approach towards uncluttering and general wellness.

The book contains six fairly short chapters. They are very accessible and practical.
Each chapter ends with a nice mindful pause, a little breathing exercise.

In Home: the Foundation of Health and Happiness, she defines the terms Qi (universal energy) and Feng Hui (acupuncture of the space – cool image!).

“Did you know that in ancient times, Chinese doctors always asked their patients about their homes? This was part of establishing the right diagnosis and the best treatment”
page 1

Then in Read your home, Know yourself, she explains how to recognize the signs of a happy or blocked Qi.
Then she gives directions on how to create good energy in the house following the bagua floor plan and the five elements (in Universal Vitality Boosters). The bagua was an interesting discovery for me

My favorite part of the book was about clutter, “an expression of old, stuck, and discordant energy” (p.43). There’s a cool technique with 3 boxes to unclutter, on pages 48-49, and a 6-week clutter reboot!

Specific Wellness Concerns goes deeper and shows how to reduce stress and anxiety, indigestion, fatigue, and get rid of low mood, and insomnia.

Finally, the author goes even further in Ongoing self-care, as she talks about complementary practices, such as acupuncture, Gua Sha, Tai Chi, and Qigong. And also grief-healing and other rituals.

The short volume ends with resources (websites and books) and an index.

VERDICT: Very helpful book to start creating wellness in your home.
