CURRENTLY READING
Don Quixote
I was doing a read-along with Lory at The Emerald City. She finished a long time ago, and I am still working at it. I’m determined to finish it this month, finally!!
Elder Leonid of Optina
I have a devotion to the Optina Fathers. I read the very last book in the series, lent by a parishioner, so now I want to read them all, and in chronological order, which makes more sense to see the development of Optina Monastery. So this is book 1 in the series, as Father Leonid is the one who revived the practice of eldership in that monastery and made it blossom again.
Goodbye Paris
A thriller for France Book Tours. Sounds good so far, though I am very perplexed by some statements.
If you want a free copy for review, we still have spots available on the tour.
Diary of a Murderer
Korean thriller. I’m only at the beginning, curious to see where this s going.
READING NEXT
Quichote
Believe it or not, I haven’t read any book yet by Rushdie!! As I’m just finishing Don Quixote, I thought it would be perfect to discover his spin on it.
Secret Agent Brainteasers
I requested several books in the Spring, but never got a chance to read them because of all my readings for MBI2019. So I’m trying to catch up. This one sounds really fun!
CURRENT AND NEXT AUDIOBOOKS
Central Park
Done with my Bussi binge, until his next title, I have started a Guillaume Musso binge, another top seller in France for years. He writes both romance an thrillers, I plan to listen only to his thrillers. The title is English, but I’m listening to these books in the original French.
Actually, although Musso has written so many books, and he is so popular in France, he has had only 1 book finally translated in English, and that’s the one I reviewed here: The Reunion.
Un appartement à Paris
Of course also by Musso

I know, he is such a huge figure of contemporary literature. I have watched lectures he gave, it was so fascinating. His culture is huge, he is a bit like Umberto Eco I think, in literary stature. Actually, they were friends. Now I have read several books by Eco, and loved them

I really enjoyed the first part. The second part is too long to my tastes, I am dragging my feet to finish it

I listened to Midnight’s Children this year, and I too intend to read Quichotte.

so the audiobook was good?

Fabulous. The narrator, Lyndam Gregory, was an actor. The accents and dramatization make it memorable.

It is cool that you plan to follow up Don Quixote with the Rushdie book. I have read The Enchantress of Florence by him and was enchanted. I have started Midnight’s Children twice but did not get very far.
