Ha! Things do get in the way of reading (which is why I only do mini-comments rather than full reviews). I had my reads for the week mentally planned (but not published) then two library holds came in, so I’ve mentally revised my list.
Carry on!

oops, I said in a comment what I meant as my answer here…
I’m indeed TRYING to simplify my reviews, but I still have ways to go…

I can feel your pain about book reviews! I try to set out an hour or two to write a review and it ends up taking me the whole day

well, it’s not going so well so far, but I hope to catching up right now. A good way to read what’s on my schedule for reviewing in September. I run France Book Tours, and I don’t read all the books featured, but it happens that suddenly there were so many good ones, I could not resist, you know how it is!!

This read-a-thon looks like a lot of fun, but I don’t think I’ll have the time to participate. Good luck with your goals!

so maybe next year:
there are 3 per year. Here are the dates for 2018:
Bout of Books 21 – 1/8/2018 — 1/14/2018
Bout of Books 22 – 5/14/2018 — 5/20/2018
Bout of Books 23 – 8/20/2018 — 8/26/2018
It’s really low key, you set your own goals, when you get the chance to connect with many other readers
