Did you see? This week, the New York Times book review section highlights French lit. Among the 4 books presented, two have been reviewed here at Words And Peace. Honestly, it looks like the New York Times missed the depth of these books, especially Constellation.
After having read their article (by clicking on the picture), I suggest you get back to my reviews, by clicking on the links: Constellation and Mon amie américaine are definitely worth reading, and they are much deeper than the newspaper makes them sound.
I read Constellation for Paris in July. Though as a whole it didn’t quite gel for me, I appreciated parts of it very much. I don’t see any reason to be snobby about it or consider it “not deep enough.”
I’ve not read any of these so it’s hard to comment on the quality of the reviews. But it’s good at least that a publication ofmthat calibre is giving any attention to work from another country.
Have not read any of them. Terribly late on The LaFayette Sword too
