CURRENTLY READING
Patristic Theology
= simple essays on all the man themes of Orthodox theology.
The author does not mince his words!
Mid-Life Spirituality and Jungian Archetypes
= reading a bit daily, a lot to think about
Paradiso
= woohoo, now in vol 3 The Divine Comedy.
Now I understand why so many don’t persevere,
it is so different from vol 1 and 2,
but I personally enjoy it all the same
The House Between Tides
= presented as “Kate Morton meets Daphne du Maurier“!
Why do you do this to me? How could I have said no??
READING NEXT
Blood Wedding
= received at BEA, by a French author I thoroughly enjoy
Charlatan
= based on the Affair of the Poisons
that scandalized Paris in 1679
Time and Regret
= historical mystery related to WW1,
on tour at France Book Tours
CURRENT AND NEXT AUDIOBOOKS
Trip Through Your Wires
= a mystery I could not resist!
The Empty Throne
= as I will now read and not listen
to Louise Penny’s books,
I’m switching to another series I thoroughly enjoy.
I’m at vol 8, and the narrator sounds really good!

i’m glad to see you have some lighter fare amongst those heavyweights on philosophy and theology. I’m told Lemaitre is chilling……

Lemaitre is chilling, but what an amazing writing. Alex is one of the smartest plot I have ever read: https://wordsandpeace.com/2014/12/17/book-review-alex-i-love-france-125/
and I believe he really deserved le Goncourt for his historical novel on WWI: https://wordsandpeace.com/2014/08/08/book-review-au-revoir-la-haut-i-love-france-106/

Alex was terrifying! i’ve not read his historical work though – that would be interesting to see how he manages a change of genre

well, he certainly does keep the tough parts in!! I preferred Irène, for the genius (according to me, Orthofer is not as impressed – reviewd on his site, though not mentioned in the book) idea of the plot

I always enjoy seeing your array of books, the orthodox and other spiritual reading and your fiction choices. I have been pleasantly surprised by Under the Mantle by Fr. Donald Calloway. He offers a unique conversational style, a strong personal testimony, and his “Marian Gems” (compilation of quotes). I am reading Time and Regret, as you know, and Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Novel by Jane Smiley. She gives a list of 100 books, so I’m there! 🙂
