June 2016 wrap-up
Already one nice sunny month gone! Trying to enjoy every minute of sun possible, hence less reading done I guess.
Here is what I read in June:
7 books
6 in print
= with 2,030 pages, that is: 67.6 pages/day
+ 1 audiobook
= with 15H02, that is: 30 mn/day
3 in mystery:
- A Game For All the Family, by Sophie Hannah
- How The Light Gets In, by Louise Penny – audio
- Murder on the Quai, by Cara Black
1 in historical fiction:
- Highland Steel, by Tanya Anne Crosby – ebook
1 in science-fiction:
- Sleeping Giants, by Sylvain Neuvel
1 in literary fiction:
- Constellation, by Adrien Bosc
1 in nonfiction:
- The Complete Review Guide to Contemporary World Fiction, by M.A. Orthofer – ebook
A few notes:
- Back to my reviewing slump: none of these reviewed yet!
- Books by Hannah and Neuvel: could not resist the pull when I saw them at my library
- Books by Black and Bosc: offered at BEA
- Book by Crosby: my latest translation into French
- Book by Orthofer: most fabulous! I got it on Netgalley, and then bought it on paper. If you are into world fiction, you really HAVE to get this book!

I organized 3 giveaways. The one for July at France Book Tours is here. There are 5 books to choose from, and I will pick 2 winners. Be sure to follow through email not to miss weekly giveaways.
- Did you see? I finally did a YouTube Channel introduction video!
At BEA, I was told the best video editor was iMovie. As I don’t have a Mac nor the funds to get one, I looked at other alternatives, and discovered the fantastic VSDC Free Editor! In fact, some experts who have tried all kinds of video editors are saying it’s even better than some paying ones! I can now really do all I want! - I went to the annual Printers Row Lit Fest in Chicago. I t was neat meeting some authors met last year and discover some new ones. More to come about those later in the Summer.

I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Orthofer guide. I thought it was a superb introduction for anyone interested in reading more broadly but I wasn’t sure how someone very familiar with literature from a particular country would rate it.

Yes, I have things to say about that, but it is indeed an amazing book
