BBAW 2016: day 3

Day 3

Day 3:  What have you read and loved because of a fellow blogger?

OMG, this is just impossible to answer! There would be way too many, and I don’t remember who recommended what!

BUT, I’m glad to ask, because,
at about the turn of the year, realizing precisely that: no way to remember why this or that book is on my Goodreads TBR (don’t laugh, 1,153 books right now as I write this, but probably many more by the time you read it, lol), who recommended it to me,
I decided to remedy that problem!

TBR

So, each time I add a book there, unless the interest is obvious to me, I now add a comment: “recomm by….”
So come back next year, and I’ll tell you more!

HOW DO YOU KEEP TRACK
OF WHO RECOMMENDS YOU A BOOK?

  1. WoW! That’s a lot on your to-read list! I’d be terrified…I keep my to-read list to an absolute minimum. I sometimes go in and whittle that list down too!! 0.o

  2. I try to include this kind of private note to myself on LibraryThing when I add a book to my TBR list there, because I realized that I would never remember who recommended what!

  3. I don’t really keep track, but usually it’s not “a” fellow blogger, it’s more like fellow bloggers (emphases on the “s”). It’s a cumulative effect. If one of my favorite bloggers likes it maybe I’ll read it, if two like it then it goes higher on my list. If three or more recommend it, it becomes a must read.
For example: The Winemaker Series which I heard about on your blog but also on Anne’s Le French Book blog. That made me enter a LibraryThing givaway for one. I won it and I’m hooked.
PS: I’m not participating in BBAW, but I am following it.

    • thanks for stopping by and commenting. I hope one day on you can participate in BBAW. I’d love to see the 5 books you would choose to present yourself. Ah yes, Anne is the publisher, so I’m glad you follow what’s going on at Le French Book, great stuff!

  4. I have not kept track of where I get recommendations. Some I remember, but many – not so much. I guess I’m OK with that because often when I write a review, someone will comment on how much they loved that book or whatnot and then I remember.

  5. Love this idea! I don’t have GR anymore but may try to implement this in Edelweiss. I do have a few tags of other bloggers’ names so it wouldn’t be too hard to make that a more formal system — thanks for the idea!

  6. Oh, this is perfect! The screen shot is hilarious (I had to go look at mine and I’m sitting at 1,819 on TBR). But what I love is that you had a hard time remembering the “who.” I did, too! I really wanted to do a specific recommendation for all 5 books, but I couldn’t remember who had done the recommending for most…. so I picked two that I was sure of and the other 3 I had to sort of generalize. I love the idea of keeping track of who recommended books to you, because, I don’t know, it’s a good idea. 🙂

  7. I was losing track too so in my TBR spreadsheet I started to add a note about who recommended the book or where did I read about it with a link. I don’t delete anything from the list (I just have a column where I mark what is read) so when I do read it I still have the data.
