Year of reading 2015
Part 1
It’s getting a tradition around here, here is part 1 of my yearly recap. There will be 2 more parts:
- my favorites, with my usual categories, see here below
- my stats
- my fun list with titles
With 109 books read, it is not easy to pick favorites, especially now that I’m getting more and more picky at what I read, so that I don’t waste time with titles I’m sure I won’t enjoy.
Also, some recent books have been in between different genres.
My final choice is based both on the quality of the book and also on how it resonated with me and my own experience.

More covers I really enjoyed in 2015
Dang, 109 books! So jealous. I wish I could get through that many in a year.
Great list. Just ordered H is for Hawk after seeing it on so many lists. Yours put it over the top.
The Martian–read it last year and really enjoyed it.
Loved The Wright Brothers.
The Cost of Courage sounds interesting. I’ll have to check that out.
My favorite 2015 releases were Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates (non-fiction) and Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel (fiction).
Happy reading in 2016!

thanks for sharing, believe it or not I DNFed Station Eleven, tried in audio, maybe I should try again in writing. I decided not to have TV, so that explains why I can read a lot every evening. Happy reading year to you too!

Wasn’t “The Martian” an absolute ball? Did you see the movie?

The Beautiful Mystery was wonderful but I think the producers missed a trick which would have made the listening experience even greater. Hearing about Gamache sitting in the pew listening to the monks chants made me envious. Why didn’t the producers include a snatch for us? I had to go out and buy some Gregorian chants on the strength of this book..

though it was at the very beginning of the book, wasn’t it? I have listened to and chanted a lot myself for many years, so it didn’t strike me as much

No favorites in common this year, but I loved McCullough’s biography of John Adams, so I may have to give the Wright Brothers a try. My recap: http://tinyurl.com/zts2vxp

A great reading year for you Emma. I didn’t read any of your favourites this year, but am very keen on H is for Hawk, and figure the audiobook might be a good idea. I have The Marvels in the TBR. I didn’t read The Martian, but saw the movie- it was great.

H is For Hawk is read by the author herself, and it works – I know it’s not always the case. I need to watch The Martian now
