Bout of Books 13#boutofbooks

And another Bout of Books done! It always goes too fast.

With lots of other things going on, I managed to read 551 pages, which is an average of 78 pages/day
and listened to 3H45 of audio, which as average of 32 mn/day.
I’m actually not counting the number of pages read and translated from the novel I’m currently translating into French

I finished 3 books and DNFed an audio.
I also took part in a Twitter party and did 4 challenges.

I also organized a contest, but as no one seems to have even tried it (it is SO easy!), I will now open it to my regular followers. One winner, the first person to give me the correct answers, will win the pack of 5 books! So try it right away!

So all in all I’m quite happy for this reading week.

I had to write a review yesterday night, so that cut out on my reading time, and I will have to rite another one tonight. This Boutofbooks is definitely NOT what I had planned it to be.

Plus, did you notice, suddenly Station Eleven is gone from the list?
According to Goodreads, I’m part of the 3% who did not like this book.
I so wanted to like it. The parts on what’s going on after the flu epidemic are fine, but in between there are way too many flashbacks on before the event, that really slowed down and bogged down the whole thing for me. Stopped after about 25%.
Not wanting to risk DNFing another audio this week, I’ll wait next time to try a recently released and am back on Louise Penny’s series, so I started volume 2. Such a delight!

PAGES READ SO FAR= a pitiful 153, plus 3H15 of audio

WHAT I READ ON DAY 2:

  1. The Fictional 100: Ranking the Most Influential Characters in World Literature and Legend, by Lucy Pollard-Gott = 4 pages
  2. Player Choice, by Jeff Deck = 25 pages
  3. Station Eleven, by Emily St John Mandel – audio = 15 mn

PAGES READ ON DAY 2 = only 29.

I’m ending up reading less during Bout of Books Week! The culprit yesterday was the movie Mr. Turner which I had checked out at the library and had to watch before returning. If you are an artist and/or like biographies and fantastic acting, this is for you!
A real portrait of a complex character, not a simplification à la Hollywood, as some other recent successful movies. They worked so hard to make that movie, real ART. I highly recommend you watch the documentary part going with the DVD, explaining how they did the movie.

PAGES READ SO FAR= 81 only

I didn’t do any challenge yesterday
