Here is another fascinating book I discovered on Paris:
Writers In Paris:
Literary Lives
in the City of Light
by David BURKE
320 pages
Published in 2008 by Counterpoint Press
You may have been to the movie recently to watch Midnight in Paris – by the way, feel free to link your movie review here!
In this book, you will be in touch not with musicians and singers, but with writers, American, French, etc, who spent some time in Paris to write – did you know that James Joyce finished Ulysses in a little apartment in Paris? You will meet him and other fascinating people here, as they chose the City of Light for their literary career.
The book is organized by Paris areas, really neat if you plan a trip to Paris: you can take the book with you and follow the book to see who lived where. There are old views of Paris throughout the book.
Is the waiting list too long for you at the library? Well, go to the author’s website, you will already find great stories. And look, there’s a very cool video, with the author taking you in one neighborhood today, and showing you a few literary places.
A book about books and about France? Well, top on my TBR!
HAVE YOU READ THIS BOOK YET?
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
